Hangar 9 introduces the next giant-scale gem, the 35% Extra 260 ARF—a thoroughbred, no-holds-barred scale aerobatic plane for everyone. Designed by accomplished competition pilot and designer Mike McConville, the new Extra 260 is constructed from durable, lightweight balsa and plywood and covered with Mike’s signature trim scheme using genuine UltraCote® for an expert look.
What sets this world-class scale aerobatic plane apart is the completely optimized design that makes this a true precision and 3D aerobatic performer. With numerous tweaks to the entire design, the 35% Extra 260 masters unsurpassed precision maneuvers such as snap rolls and axial rolls. Strong rudder authority provides extreme yaw, while the absence of rudder coupling means no mixing is needed for this model. The Extra 260 has low wing loading and also has exceptional aileron authority at low speeds—enabling the plane to roll fast even in extreme 3D high alpha. Using an Evolution® 116GX2 or popular, equivalent 100cc gas engines, the Extra 260 is a high-powered scale aerobatic performer.
The level of completion of the Extra 260 ARF is beyond comparison in the giant-scale market. Most of the high-quality Hangar 9 giant-scale hardware is included, and even installed, equaling a great assembly time savings for the consumer. The kit comes highly prefabricated with the fuel tank, hinges and control horns installed and hinge lines sealed, so you don’t have to wait long to get in the flying. Even mounting the muffler is easy thanks to the installed pipe tunnels for MTW 75 canister mufflers. Furthermore, the 35% Extra 260 comes with a very lightweight fiberglass, helmeted pilot figure painted to perfectly match the vibrant trim scheme.
Besides the unparalleled level of completion, the customer also gets smart design features such as a two-piece wing and stab, as well as a removable rudder (utilizing a piano hinge), that ensures convenient storage and easy transport to the flying field, as well as top-quality, durable components like the fiberglass cowl and lightweight aluminum landing gear.
